The School of Mechanical Engineering held a lecture on Improving the scientific Ethics and career planning of graduate students

On March 29th, the School of Mechanical Engineering hosted a lecture in the 7th floor lecture hall of the Mechanical Building. The lecture focused on improving scientific ethics and career planning quality for graduate students. Liu Jie, Vice Minister of the Graduate Work Department of the University Party Committee, was the invited speaker. Graduate counselor Ye Xin served as the host for the event.

At the start of the lecture, Liu Jie provided a clear definition of academic ethics and norms. She then proceeded to outline ten different forms of academic misconduct and provided detailed explanations of each through a series of specific case analyses.During her speech, she emphasized the tenets of scientific spirit and scientific accomplishment that postgraduate students must possess. Her aim was to alert students to the importance of adhering to academic integrity and scientific ethics. She urged students to cultivate and enhance their academic ethics and norms awareness.Afterwards, Liu Jie provided more detailed guidance on career planning and encouraged students to actively promote and embody the spirit of scientists during their scientific research process, which should be integrated with scientific ethics education. Liu Jie provided an explanation of the connotation, classification, and significance of career planning to the students. Through various personality analysis methods such as the Holland Fun Island Game, MBTI career personality test, and career family tree, she guided the students towards a comprehensive, multi-dimensional, and deep understanding of their career personality. This helped them to clarify the direction of their lives and create a reasonable career plan. Liu Jie emphasized the importance of adhering to scientific ethics and academic norms as the foundation for enhancing national research capabilities, shaping a positive social environment, and fostering personal career success.

This lecture aimed to improve students' understanding of scientific ethics and academic norms, while also helping them to better plan their careers. In addition, it encouraged students to feel a greater sense of pride and unity as research workers, and contributed to fostering a positive academic atmosphere at the college.
